Every stage brings its own challenges

Your emotional needs change as life changes. Hormones, relationships, work, caring for others and big transitions can all shift how you feel – sometimes slowly, sometimes all at once.

Many women carry this quietly for years, telling themselves it’s “just stress” or “just hormones”. You don’t have to wait until things feel overwhelming to ask for support.

Care through life’s transitions

Support for every stage

Menstrual health

Mood swings, irritability, anxiety or low mood before your period. When it disrupts work or relationships, it may be PMS or PMDD – and it can be helped.

PCOS and fertility

PCOS, irregular cycles and fertility treatment can bring anxiety, low self-esteem and low mood. Your emotional health deserves care alongside the medical side.

Pregnancy and motherhood

Worry during pregnancy, feeling low or disconnected after birth, or struggling to cope with a new baby. Postpartum depression and anxiety are common and treatable.

⚠ Get urgent help now

If you or a new mother has thoughts of harming herself or the baby, sees or hears things others don’t, or seems confused or very unlike herself after birth, contact emergency services or go to the nearest hospital.

Work and relationships

Stress, emotional exhaustion, burnout, relationship strain and the load of caring for everyone else.

Perimenopause and beyond

New anxiety, low mood, irritability, poor sleep or brain fog in your 40s and 50s. These changes are real, and support can make this stage easier.

How we can help

Whatever your stage of life, these are the concerns women most often bring to their first consultation.

Anxiety and persistent worry

Racing thoughts, constant “what ifs” and feeling on edge.

Sleep difficulties

Trouble falling or staying asleep, or waking at 3 am.

Depression and low mood

Feeling flat, tearful or empty for weeks at a time.

Overthinking and overwhelm

A mind that won’t switch off, even when you’re tired.

Stress and burnout

Running on empty from work, home and caring for others.

Self-esteem and body image

Being hard on yourself, or struggling with how you see your body.

A thoughtful way forward

The first step is simply a conversation about what you’re going through.

FAQ

Questions about women’s mental health

When should I seek support?

When low mood, worry, irritability or exhaustion lasts more than two weeks, keeps coming back, or affects your work, relationships or sleep. You don’t need to reach a crisis point first.

Can hormonal changes affect my mental health?

Yes. The menstrual cycle, pregnancy, the postpartum period and perimenopause can all affect mood, anxiety and sleep. Hormones are rarely the only factor, so we look at stress, sleep, relationships and health history too.

What is the difference between PMS and PMDD?

PMS brings mild mood and physical changes before a period. PMDD is more severe: intense low mood, anxiety or irritability that disrupts daily life in the week or two before your period, then eases once it starts.

Is it normal to feel low after having a baby?

Mild tearfulness in the first two weeks (the “baby blues”) is common. If low mood, anxiety or feeling disconnected lasts longer or gets worse, it may be postpartum depression, which is treatable. Please reach out early.

Can I get help during pregnancy or while breastfeeding?

Yes. Psychological support and lifestyle care are safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Any herbal medicine is considered only after checking safety for you and your baby, and alongside your obstetrician’s care.

Can perimenopause cause anxiety or depression?

It can. Many women notice new anxiety, low mood, irritability or poor sleep in the years before menopause. A consultation helps sort out what is hormonal, what is stress, and what else may be involved.

How does Ayurveda fit into my care?

Ayurveda is a supportive layer: daily routine, food, sleep habits and calming practices, and herbal medicine only when suitable and safe. It works alongside evidence-based psychological care, not instead of medical treatment you need.

Are online consultations private?

Yes. Consultations happen by private video call, and what you share stays confidential. Many women find it easier to talk from home.

Can I consult in Malayalam, or from outside India?

Yes. Consultations are available in English and Malayalam, for women in India and the GCC, including the UAE.

You deserve support, too

Whatever stage of life you’re in, your mental wellbeing matters. Let’s talk about what you’re going through and what would help.

Manodhara consultations are not an emergency service. If you are in crisis or thinking of harming yourself or someone else, please contact local emergency services or a crisis helpline right away.
